Mad Girl Eats Guadalajara Fiesta Grill

image

Guadalajara Fiesta Grill, 750 N Kolb Rd, Tucson, AZ.

While visiting Tucson, I wanted my fill of Margaritas, Mariachi’s, and Mexican food. Well honey, Guadalajara Fiesta Grill filled the bill and did not disappoint! A delightful venue, the patio at sunset is the perfect place to enjoy the ambiance. Twinkle lights, lanterns, Mexican decor, and landscape in this walled and private outdoor space makes the experience very special.

Service is excellent and having salsa made tableside is a wonderful addition. The margaritas are ordered, the Mariachi’s are playing and the salsa and chips are ready. After soaking up some Guadalajara delights, it’s time to order dinner.

A good Mexican menu with a surprisingly nice selection of seafood items, I was feeling beefy and wanted something hearty. The Chimichanga Asada was what I needed. Grilled steak wrapped in a homemade tortilla with homemade beans then, lightly fried. Topped with cheese and onions, tomatoes , sour cream and guacamole on the side with refried beans and Spanish rice. Delish! Great quality, perfect seasoning, fresh everything. I highly recommend this dish…and Guadalajara Fiesta Grill.  A fun and tasty evening had by all!

Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner they also offer Happy Hour specials.

Hours are 10am to 10pm, 7 days a week.

Mad Girl Eats El Charro Cafe in Tucson

El Charro Café, 6910 E. Sunrise Dr, Tucson, AZ. More locations.

With a beautiful patio facing the mountains, Happy Hour at El Charro Café in Tucson is the perfect place for food and drink. The interior dining area is gorgeous, but eating al fresco at sunset was just the ticket to ride at this east Catalina Foothills location.

A fair selection of appetizers, we ordered two for 3 people who just wanted to nosh. The Cheesecrisps were recommended by a friend, so that was a given to try. The Mini Chimichangas sounded interesting, and a perfect pairing with our Margaritas!

I was astonished at how huge the size of Cheesecrisps were, and a generous amounts of cheese. A scrumptious blend of Oaxaca, Menonita, Casero, and Cotija cheeses.  Oh boy, this is more than we all bargained for! The Mimi Chimi’s were a perfect 4 bites and a nice array of flavors offered. Shredded beef, bean, chicken, and pork. All accompanied by fresh Pico de Charro, sour cream, and chips and salsa. Hint: Their salsa on top of the Cheesecrisps made a tasty kicker.

The regular dinner menu is decently priced. Happy Hour menu is half off appetizers (awesome) and half off House Margaritas, House Wine, and Draft Beer….everyday  from 3pm-6pm. I say, hurrah!

Exquisite ambience, fantastic service, nice prices, and fab quality food. What more do you want besides being known as The Nation’s Oldest Mexican Restaurant in continuous operation by the same family?! Their creed says it all, “We are not the best because we are the oldest, We are the oldest because WE ARE THE BEST!”. And there you have it.

Mad Girl Eats Risky Business in Tucson

image

Risky Business, 6866 E Sunrise Dr, Tucson, AZ.  Two other locations in the Tucson area.

Sitting at the Foothills is a nice and funky restaurant and sports bar. Think cool steel and wild red, not sticky floors and dank walls. Another hot spot that has a patio to soak in the sunset and get some fresh air.

A decent size menu, especially if you’re gunning for a burger or sandwich. Ok, one of each please. A Black and Blue burger, and a Roasted Prime Rib sandwich. Be hungry because when they show up at your table, they are a hefty size with a load of French fries. The burger is made with garlic and Cajun spices perfect to blacken, covered with melted blue cheese on a decadent roll. A powerhouse of flavor in that burger! The Roasted Prime Rib sandwich was no slouch. Roasted and shaved, the prime rib was tousled with Portobello mushrooms and carmelized onions. I know your mouth is watering already but just wait a sec…it is topped with Havarti cheese and horseradish aioli all enveloped in a baguette then dunked in au jus. Ok, commence to drooling.  By-the-way, if you like to dunk, try the fries in the pot of aioli…flipping fab. Yeah, Baby!

Delish! Satisfying! Happy!
