Mad Girl Eats Mt Lemmon….Pizza in AZ

The Cookie Cabin, 12781 Sabino Canyon Rd, Mt Lemmon, AZ.

Don’t let the name fool you, The Cookie Cabin nearing the top of Mt Lemmon (just outside of Tucson) offers more than cookies. Delectable pizza is waiting for you up about 9,000 feet. You never know what you’re going to get when you order pizza blind.

When the supreme style pizza arrived at the table, I was thrilled! Thick, homemade, with copious amounts of toppings! The flavors and texture were awesome. As I sat in this small log cabin, fireplace going, yummy smells baking in the kitchen, I relaxed and took in the beauty of my surroundings.

The surroundings included the great outdoors, but more importantly, the goodies indoors. Mostly, the decadent and gigantic cookies and desserts passing thru the dining room. Ooh weeee, baby! If the pizza hadn’t filled me to the brim, I would have had an intimate moment with a chocolate chip cookie.

The pizza was fantastic, but save room for a freshly baked, warm cookie. It’s worth the trip up the mountain!

Mad Girl Sips Serendipity 3, Las Vegas

Serendipity 3, 3570 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV. More locations around the country.

Directly in front of the mega Caesar’s Palace Resort and Casino, is the pretty and perfectly located Serendipity 3 restaurant and walk-up window. Inside, a large dining area, and outside, a window to get something quick with patio seating available.

Thirsty and hot, the only thing on my mind was Serendipity’s Frozen Hot Chocolate, even though Serendipity has a full menu. The walk up window had a line, but moved fairly quickly. Finally, a beautiful plastic cup of loveliness appeared with full-on whipped cream to delight me like a giggling school girl.

The Frozen Hot Chocolate was rich, not too thick that you’d strain a muscle, and the flavor was undeniable. It was….the flavor of hot chocolate, in frozen form. Go figure. Truly a fabulous treat on an arid day in the desert.

Pricey, but novel and when in Vegas… know the rest.

Hours: 8:00am-11:00pm

4 out of 5 serendipitous thumbs up!

Mad Girl Eats Café Du Monde

Café Du Monde, 800 Decatur St, New Orleans, LA.

Café Du Monde is a glorious, well-known institution in the French Quarter, bringing joy since 1862. It is a ‘must’ when visiting New Orleans. Open 24 hours a day, anytime is a great time for a cup of café au lait and an order of beignets.

The café au lait is made with half coffee (a French heritage coffee and chicory blend) and half dreamy creamy hot milk. One order of beignets gives you 3 warm angelic pillows of fried heaven, covered in powdered sugar. Tende,r flaky, golden goodness pairs perfectly with café au lait. Sitting indoors or out in the large covered patio, there is no better way to start your morning. If you’re lucky, there is live music to enjoy. Either way, you get tasty treats, great atmosphere, and happy people. Enjoy!

Tips: Beware not to inhale while taking a bite of your beignet. You’ll get powdered sugar filled lungs and a coughing fit on top of it….yeah, it happened to me. It’s also advisable not to wear black, as the sugar has a mind of its own…under the ceiling fans. Yes, that happened also. Live and learn, now I’m a pro!

Mad Girl Loves Korean BBQ Taco Box, Orlando

Korean BBQ Taco Box, Food trucks serving Central Florida and the Washington, D.C area.

Food trucks. Some look down their snobby noses at them, but if you give them a try, you may strike culinary gold. A couple of years ago, I was lucky enough to attend The Daily City’s Food Truck Bazaar (a wrangling of a dozen or two trucks) in Orlando. I immediately was drawn to this bright yellow truck serving up Asian Fusion, Korean style BBQ. Intrigued, I looked at their menu and landed on the short rib tacos. Galbi style short rib tacos, to be exact. That all really meant nothing to me, but they were kind to guide me through and order what would become, one of my favorite eats of all time. Number 8 on the menu, the Galbi Short Rib Taco Box.

It comes with interesting sides. A salad with peanut ginger dressing, an ultra spicy chicken wing, and 2 other Korean delicacies. Let’s get to the star of the box, the Galbi short rib taco. A nice size soft taco filled with a good amount of short rib meat and a helluva lot of flavor. I mean….explosive, rich, sweet and savory, beefy, juicy, drip-down-your-arm morsels of happiness. This is a one bite and you say…”OMG” thing. Moan your way through it. Get your own, because this is one dish you don’t want to share and give up any portion of.

Continually awarded with ‘Best Of’ honors, too lengthy to list. Find a truck, thank me later.

Go to the  to see their schedule for the next Food Truck Bazaar or connect via Twitter @koreanbbq_2011  or to find where their trucks are daily!
